The Curriculum for our Children
Our Curriculum for our ChildrenSpire Nursery and Infant School is a unique educational and nurturing setting where staff thrive on giving pupils the best possible start in life. We believe that our Curriculum Intent is vital to ensure pupils receive the best education possible to become effective British Citizens. In the drop down menu, you will find details of our annual curriculum overview Learning Journey for each year group. At Spire Nursery and Infant School our curriculum not only includes the requirements of the KS1 National Curriculum and the Early Years Framework, but also a range of additional experiences, Enrichments Passports, that we carefully plan in order to promote personal growth and development and to address cultural capital and social mobility. Our Learning Journey is broken down into Long Term Plans to ensure curriculum coverage. From these, we have created sequenced maps and knowledge and skills progression maps for all subjects. These maps ensure that learning is sequenced so they develop a deep understanding of the content taught. They are intended to build on previous learning and achievements to promote future learning and progression in learning. These are regularly reviewed to ensure that our children continue to be challenged to achieve to the best of their ability. Barriers to Learning are incidents and conditions in a child’s lives which affect their ability to learn. At Spire, we understand that learning barriers can be influenced by a range of factors, including SEND and disadvantage. The Barriers to Learning documents illustrate how we strive to address and remove these barriers in each subject area, in order for every child to reach their potential.
